AUTODYSSEY
A person on a quiet road in the heather-gray AUTODYSSEY soft tee

The Soft One · Heather Gray

The quietest shirt we make, and possibly the most dangerous.

Dangerous because you will put it on for a night in, and suddenly every other shirt you own will feel like it was woven from rope.

A Warning, In Good Faith

You will try to wear this shirt four days in a row.

We know because we did it ourselves, during testing, in a professional capacity. The fabric is a fine-gauge cotton with a touch of stretch, brushed until it stops feeling like a t-shirt and starts feeling like an apology from every t-shirt that came before it.

The branding, for once, whispers. A small brass-colored A// monogram on the left chest and nothing else. This is the shirt for people who have nothing to prove and a long drive ahead, which in our experience is the finest kind of person to be.

The Monogram

Two letters and two strokes, in brass, and that is all.

The A// mark is printed small and soft, brass on gray, positioned where a pocket would go if this shirt had any interest in pockets. From across a room it is almost invisible. From across a cars-and-coffee, to the people who know, it is a handshake.

The Fabric

Brushed cotton with just enough give to forgive.

The knit is finer than our heavyweight tees and cut a touch closer, with enough stretch to move when you do. It drapes rather than hangs. It goes under a jacket without bulk and over a long day without complaint, and it comes out of the dryer ready to wear, which we consider a moral victory.

The Color

Heather gray, the color of not trying too hard and nailing it.

Gray goes with everything, which everyone knows, and heather gray goes with everything while looking like you own a boat, which fewer people know. It hides road-trip creases, flatters in photographs, and pairs with denim the way a flat six pairs with a mountain pass.

Where It Ends Up

Long hauls, red-eyes, and Sunday mornings that start at eleven.

This is the touring shirt. The one you wear for six hundred miles and step out of the car still feeling human. It has done overnight ferries, dawn starts, and at least one twelve-hour parts run that turned into a weekend, and it complained about none of them.
